The Vitrines de Strasbourg association makes increased efforts every year to illuminate the shopping streets of the Capital of Christmas with breathtaking decorations, as varied as they are original, which are often nods to the names of streets and squares or their history. The majestic alley
Pass through the Porte des Lumières on Rue du Vieux-Marché-aux-Poissons to enter the magic of Strasbourg, the Capital of Christmas. Christmas baubles with surprise decorations, bordered by red curtains, will guide your steps towards the ‘Grand Sapin’. Don't miss the musical angels on Rue Mercière and the Baccarat chandeliers on Rue des Hallebardes.
The cathedral tree
Come and admire, on the Place de la Gare, the Cathedral Tree made up of more than 80 cathedrals and shining with a thousand lights from its height of 12 metres. This is an original creation 100% made in france by the Vitrines de Strasbourg in the workshops of the company Blachere Illumination, in Apt in Vaucluse.
Barrel display
In Rue des Tonneliers, 22 luminous, sparkling barrels are suspended as a tribute to the history of the street, where barrels delivered to the quays were rolled to the shops.
The giant chandelier
With its magical decorations, the giant chandelier is located on the corner of the Grand'Rue and Rue du Fossé-des-Tanneurs. Taking its inspiration from the gourmet delicacies of the shops in Grand'Rue, this monumental chandelier measures six metres across and 3.5 metres tall and has three tiers.
Fairytale forest
In Rue de la Mésange, 22 giant trees with gold and white lights have been installed, giving the street a magical feel. This enchanting forest continues on to Place Saint-Pierre-le-Jeune, where the centuriesold trees in the square are illuminated.
The blue tree and its reading bear
On Place Gutenberg, the famous blue tree and its teddy bear pay homage to Strasbourg, the World Capital of Books! Just like the Rue du Jeu des Enfants, which is adorned with illuminated books.
