Craftsmanship at the heart of Christmas
Thinking of Christmas means thinking of rituals and traditions: mulled wine at the corner of the street, the star placed atop the Christmas tree, family and friends gathered around meals...
In Alsace, these traditions are numerous and closely linked to artisanal know-how. Decorations, gastronomy, original gifts... the chalets gathered at the various Christmas markets, dedicated events, and pop-up shops highlight craftsmanship.
Over 300 chalets showcase the symbols of Alsatian Christmas. Strasbourg, Capital of Christmas, celebrates the work of its local producers who operate with respect for the land and materials. Their hands shape what creates the magic and flavour of Christmas: wooden toys made in Alsace, pottery from Soufflenheim and Betschdorf, craft beers, Alsatian wines, bredle from the bakers' guild, Advent wreaths, Christmas baubles from Meisenthal, and countless local, delicious, decorative products and gift ideas. There truly is something for everyone!
It is also the artisans and creators from the region who design and install the decorations for the streets, chalets, and shopfronts: admire their talent and imagination!
OZ, the Christmas of Crafts
The Federation of Craft Professions of Alsace (Frémaa) highlights the talent and expertise of around fifty artisans through a charming pop-up shop where lovers of unique pieces can find singular gifts, handcrafted with care. Ceramists, glassmakers, cabinetmakers, and jewellery and fashion designers showcase their latest collections.
The OZ fair is undoubtedly an opportunity to take a very short route for Christmas shopping, prioritising quality and originality!
