Getting around on foot at the Christmas Markets

The Grande-Île, entirely pedestrianised during this magical month and with 21 bridges providing 24-hour access to the city centre, makes walking to the Christmas Market even more convenient.

PEDESTRIAN ROUTES TO ACCESS THE CHRISTMAS MARKETS
From the Railway Station – Place de la Gare
The city centre is about a ten-minute walk from the railway station. By taking Rue du Maire Kuss, you can head directly to the Christmas Market of the Irreducible Small Producers of Alsace, the Village of Advent on Place Louise Weiss, and the OFF Market at Place Grimmeissen. These markets offer a variety of local and artisanal products, perfect for your Christmas gifts.
From the National Bus Station – Parc de l'Étoile
The city centre is around a fifteen-minute walk from the national bus station. Head towards Place du Maréchal de Lattre Tassigny (Place de la Bourse), then Place d’Austerlitz, followed by Place du Corbeau, and pass under the Porte des Lumières Strasbourg, Capital of Christmas. From there, just a few metres on foot will take you to the Christmas Market around the Cathedral and the Quai des Délices.
From Place de la République
The city centre is just 5 minutes on foot from Place de la République. Cross the Théâtre Bridge, continue towards Place Broglie, and you will pass under the arch of the Chrìstkìndelsmärik. This traditional market is one of the oldest and most famous in Strasbourg, offering a multitude of stalls where you can taste local specialties and discover decorations to adorn your Christmas tree or home.
