Taking Your Dog into the City Centre During Christmas: Transport, Dog Sitting, and... Gifts!

Since 1st July 2023, all dogs (except for category 1) are allowed free of charge on trams in the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg. However, dogs are not permitted everywhere in the city: certain areas are off-limits, such as food stores, establishments that refuse dogs (at the discretion of the establishment’s manager), and the buses of the CTS network. A Dog Sitting Service in the Heart of the City

During the Christmas period, a dog-sitting service, provided by the company Patchguard, is available. To ensure the comfort of dogs, a secure 100m² space has been set up in the heart of the city, at 4 rue de la Douane, near tourist sites. The space is heated and equipped to accommodate up to 9 dogs simultaneously. The proximity to nearby green spaces also offers plenty of opportunities for walks. Experienced and qualified canine staff supervise the dogs in the absence of their owners. Visitors can leave their dogs with peace of mind, whether for an hour or a full day, starting at €8 per hour, while they enjoy Christmas shopping or explore Strasbourg (tourist sites, such as Batorama, the Strasbourg Museums, or the Cathedral, are not accessible to dogs). Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 7:00 pm. From 24th November to 24th December, PatchGuard is also open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.
