The heart of the city beats to the rhythm of Christmas, as its streets and squares immerse you in an enchanting world where lights, decorations and fragrances create an unforgettable experience.

In a fully pedestrianised city centre, the Christmas markets are best explored on foot — all located just a few steps from one another.

Enter the Grande Île through one of the specially arranged entrances at each bridge, and let yourself be carried away by the incomparable magic of Strasbourg, Capital of Christmas.

Stroll, Admire and Marvel

The cobbled lanes, emblematic squares, half-timbered façades and spectacular illuminations together create a unique atmosphere. Look up — every district tells its own story, and every decoration is a work of art!

To make the most of your visit in complete tranquillity, the pathways are wide, beautifully decorated and well lit. Two information points, located Place Kléber and at the train station, are available to answer any questions.

And to guide you along your way, the Mobile Elf Brigade — present on Wednesdays, Fridays and weekends — will help you move from one market to another. To quickly locate public conveniences, the Ici Toilettes app is your best ally.

Visit the Eight Christmas Markets

The eight markets are set in the heart of the historic centre, across its most iconic streets and squares — all easy to access and just a short walk apart.
Each market has its own character and charm: handicrafts, delicacies, social initiatives, local products… A thousand treasures await you!

And remember — the best way to discover them all is on foot, guided by the glow of the illuminations.

The Christmas Markets are open from 26 November at 2 p.m. until 24 December at 6 p.m.
The chalets welcome you daily from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

With the Christmas Market Map, you can move easily through the city.

If needed, mobility aids (such as a walker or wheelchair) can be borrowed at the information chalet, Place Kléber.

Wander, Browse and Delight

From one market to another, you are sure to find something to cherish: Christmas tree ornaments, garlands, handcrafted candles, Alsatian ceramics, local creations, wooden toys — and countless sweet treats to offer or enjoy yourself.

The traders and artisans share their passion and invite you to discover the richness of regional craftsmanship.

Savour, Indulge and Breathe in Christmas

At both the Christmas Market and the OFF Market, there are endless ways to delight your taste buds!

Exhibitors take great care to offer dishes for every preference and dietary need (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free), in a responsible approach — without forgetting the essential Alsatian specialities.

The scents of cinnamon, honey and spices will lead you to the gourmet chalets, where you can taste bredle, gingerbread, sauerkraut, tarts and flammekuechespaëtzle and bretzels.

To accompany these delights, savour a mulled wine infused with citrus and spices — or a warm fruit juice for the children.

Sort, Respect and Take Part

Dedicated dining areas allow you to relax, chat and savour Alsatian specialities.
And because in Strasbourg, magic also rhymes with respect, sorting islands and reusable solidarity cups enable everyone to enjoy a delicious yet sustainable Christmas.

Sorting points are set up on the main squares — Place du ChâteauPlace KléberPlace Broglie and Place Saint-Thomas— where recycling ambassadors will guide you in sorting your waste correctly.

And since a responsible Christmas is a shared one, the exhibitors set an example: their waste is sorted, collected and transformed into biogas.

The City also provides suitable facilities for wastewater collection and treatment.

So, for a truly zero-waste indulgence, bring your own container — and enjoy every last crumb, whether on site or at home!
