What is digital accessibility?

Digital accessibility refers to a set of rules and best practices that cover functional, graphical, technical, and editorial aspects. Adhering to these rules and practices ensures that digital platforms (websites, mobile applications, PDF documents, etc.) are accessible to people with disabilities.

An accessible website, for example, allows you to:

  • Personalise the display via the operating system and/or browser (enlarging or shrinking text, changing fonts, modifying colours, stopping animations, etc.).

  • Navigate using assistive technologies such as speech synthesis or a braille display.

  • Navigate without using a mouse, relying solely on the keyboard, switches, or a touch screen.

  • View videos and audio content with subtitles and/or transcripts.

  • Etc.

Digital Accessibility Commitments

The City and Eurometropolis of Strasbourg are committed to making their websites (internet, intranet, and extranet), mobile applications, software, and digital urban furniture accessible in accordance with Article 47 of Law No. 2005-102 of 11 February 2005.

 

Accessibility Statement

This site is a thematic sub-site attached to the main portal of the City and Eurometropolis of Strasbourg, hosted on the Liferay CMS.

It relies on a common architecture and templates shared with the main Strasbourg.eu site. This site is partially compliant with the RGAA (General Framework for Improving Accessibility) version 4.1.2 due to non-compliance issues.

Compliance Status

This site is partially compliant with the RGAA (General Framework for Improving Accessibility) version 4.1.2. While it adopts the components, styles, structures, and best practices of the main Strasbourg.eu site, no specific audit for this sub-site has been conducted to date.

Technical Base

  • CMS: Liferay 7.x (open-source portal used for all Strasbourg.eu sites)
  • Languages: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript
  • Shared Components: Menus, forms, carousels, tab systems, modals, etc.
  • Frameworks and Libraries: Use of Liferay modules (Fragments, Widgets, Display Templates) and custom front-end scripts

Cross-platform with Strasbourg.eu

  • This sub-site uses the same page templates, components, and stylesheets as the main site:

  • Accessibility corrections made to the main portal benefit the sub-sites in part;

  • Some specific content (documents, videos, dedicated forms) may not yet meet all RGAA requirements.

Potential Non-compliance Issues

Without a specific audit, the most likely non-compliance issues (observed during the Strasbourg.eu audit) may include:

  • Insufficient contrast on certain text elements;

  • Images without relevant alternative text;

  • Inaccessibility of some dynamic content (interactive maps, non-subtitled videos...);

  • Forms with errors not detectable by screen readers;

  • Partial keyboard navigation issues in certain interactive sections.

Planned Actions
