Taking your dog to the Christmas market

Bringing your dog to the Christmas market

Bringing your dog to the Christmas market is possible!
Animals are welcome at the markets, provided they are kept on a leash. This means you can enjoy the magical atmosphere of Strasbourg, the Christmas capital, with your four-legged friend.

Rules for a pleasant experience

For everyone's comfort and safety, there are a few simple rules to ensure that everyone can share the public space in harmony:

  • dogs are not allowed in food shops;
  • each establishment is free to decide whether or not to accept animals;
  • dogs are not allowed on CTS buses, but can travel free of charge on trams in the Eurométropole de Strasbourg.

Small dogs must travel in a bag or basket. Larger dogs must be kept on a leash and muzzled.

Cleanliness and respect for public spaces

In order to preserve cleanliness and quality of life for all, the City reminds owners that they must pick up after their pets.
Failure to comply with this rule will result in a fine of €135.

  • Free bags are available:
  • in public toilets,
  • in local town halls,
  • and at certain partner shops.

There are also 110 dog parks throughout the area.

Dedicated areas and water points

For your dog's well-being, there are 12 play areas where they can run around freely under your supervision.
Water points are also available so you can fill your water bottle and give your dog a drink.
