Each winter, Strasbourg reaffirms its status as the Capital of Christmas while strengthening its commitment to hosting an event that respects the environment. As the first city in the world to obtain ISO 20121 certification for its Christmas Market, Strasbourg continues to combine wonder, tradition and responsibility.
The City is dedicated to reducing its ecological footprint while preserving the festive spirit that has made it famous. Decorations are reused, and materials are recycled or recyclable. This exemplary approach reflects a clear ambition: to offer a sustainable Christmas where light and togetherness go hand in hand with the mindful use of resources.
The public is invited to experience the magic of Christmas differently through a programme of events and activities focused on sustainable development, including meetings with local artisans, eco-friendly creative workshops, and seasonal culinary discoveries.

The decor sets the tone: a 12-meter Christmas tree catches the eye and invites you to step into the magic of Christmas. The installation consists of 80 cathedrals, printed from thousands of recycled bottles. An original creation that pays homage to Strasbourg’s heritage while giving these materials a second life. Take a moment to admire it before continuing your exploration of the city all aglow.

As soon as you arrive at the train station, you’ll be amazed by the 12-meter-tall Christmas tree made up of 80 “cathedrals” printed from thousands of recycled bottles.

Standing 30 meters tall, the iconic Grand Sapin delights visitors this year with four striking symbols: the candle, the Alsatian cottage, the dove, and the heart made of kelsch. Its design and decorations are part of an eco-friendly approach that emphasizes the reuse of materials, job creation, and local craftsmanship. Place Kléber, daily from November 27 to January 5: light and music show every hour between 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., and light show only between 10:00 p.m. and midnight.
