Around the Cathedral

A little tip from Strasbourg
Feeling adventurous? Climb the 332 steps leading up to the Cathedral’s viewing platform, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city from 66 meters above the ground.
Traditional Christmas market
In the Middle Ages, before the Chrìstkìndelsmärik emerged, a “Klausenmärik” — or Saint Nicholas market — was held on Cathedral Square around December 6. Candle makers, gingerbread sellers, and other confectioners shared the space with herbalists, saddlers, second-hand dealers, and haberdashers.
Today, the wooden chalets stretch from Cathedral Square to Place du Château, along Rue des Hallebardes and Rue Gutenberg.
