Craftsmanship in the spotlight
At Strasbourg, Capital of Christmas, craftsmanship takes centre stage: local creations, Alsatian know-how, and events dedicated to the arts and crafts.
- A Christmas here and elsewhere
True to the “Ville et Métiers d’Art” label, which the city has proudly held for many years, Strasbourg, Capital of Christmas, showcases fine craftsmanship. Discover the dedicated events and the pop-up shops that appear throughout the city.
Thinking about Christmas means thinking about rituals and traditions: mulled wine on the corner of the street, a star on the top of the tree, meals shared with family and friends…
In Alsace, these traditions are plentiful and closely linked to local artisanal know-how. Decorations, gastronomy, unique gifts… Christmas market chalets, themed events and pop-up boutiques all celebrate craftsmanship.
More than 300 chalets present the symbols of Alsatian Christmas. Strasbourg, Capital of Christmas, pays tribute to the work of its local producers who operate with respect for the terroir and materials. Their hands shape the magic and flavour of Christmas: wooden toys made in Alsace, pottery from Soufflenheim and Betschdorf, craft beers, Alsace wines, bakers’ bredle, Advent wreaths, Meisenthal Christmas baubles and many other local gourmet and decorative creations. There is something for everyone!
Artisans and creators from the region also design the decorations for the streets, chalets and shopfronts: admire their talent and imagination!
