Strasbourg’s Christmas Markets Remain as Magical & Community-Minded as Ever

In 2025, Strasbourg, the Capital of Christmas, welcomed 3 million visitors from across France, Germany, Spain, as well as the United States, Japan, China, and Turkey.

Yet the magic of Strasbourg’s Christmas also captivated the local community: residents of the Eurometropolis accounted for half of all visitors, mirroring the previous year’s turnout. Families and school groups flocked to the festive activities at the Advent Village in Louise-Weiss Square. The 100 performances, concerts, and artistic events drew some 15,000 attendees, while creative workshops attracted nearly 3,500 crafters, and 3,000 schoolchildren took part in dedicated activities. Meanwhile, the Christmas markets and neighbourhood events provided 3,600 people with a warm opportunity to connect with their neighbours.

In 2025, the spirit of solidarity at Strasbourg’s Capital of Christmas reached new heights. The Community Christmas Tree initiative fulfilled the gift wishes of 300 children in care or supported by social services, while an additional 200 parcels were generously donated to charities and shelters. The deposit cup scheme raised €7,000, which will be donated to food distribution organisations. Fairground stallholders collected €6,000 for two local charities supporting vulnerable families, and chestnut vendors contributed €840 to the association La Main du Cœur. Additionally, the Tourist Office’s shop will allocate 5% of its December turnover to community projects. This year, the Village of Sharing opened its fourteen chalets to 110 charities—20 more than in 2024.
