Noël à St-Etienne

Noël à St-Etienne

Christmas, the time of friendliness, discussion and good times together.

What if we slowed down and enjoyed the simple pleasures and moments that Christmas offers, with family and friends? Shall we share friendly moments, take the time to savour the small things in life, the pleasures of Christmas with loved ones, stress-free? At the heart of the Grande Île, just a few steps away from the bustle of the traditional Christmas markets, the Saint-Étienne district is unveiled and invites visitors to create and experience Christmas together, in a warm and intimate atmosphere.

Let’s experience Christmas together, in the streets of the Saint-Étienne district. Let’s take the time to wander through lanes, courtyards, streets and squares. Let’s take advantage of the long winter days and make time for a short stroll or set aside an afternoon to enjoy simple and warm moments. Opened-armed and with our noses in the air, let’s allow ourselves to be guided by our senses, carried away by the treasures of daily life, surprised by long encounters, marvel at the little things that change everything. Outdoor events are organised in the district on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. In the streets and squares, with the involvement of players from the district and local associations, let’s enjoy a new experience of Christmas in Strasbourg.

Place Saint-Étienne
At the entrance to the district, the place Saint-Étienne is the meeting point for Strasbourg residents. In an atmosphere filled with joy and friendliness (just like its users), discover the Christmas-themed installations and experience an openair “Stammtisch” and musical events throughout the day, in partnership with the “Tribu des gourmets” [wine lovers] association and their famous mulled white wine. Tribu des gourmets: Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Place Mathias Mérian: a cocoon in the city
Let’s enjoy the cocooning atmosphere of this private square, which is unveiled this winter. Discover an events area full of life and share various events and good times as a family.

Place du Marché Gayot: our beautiful tree
With its typically Alsatian architecture, the place du Marché Gayot resembles a village bustling with life. As a family, with friends, alone or in a group, with neighbours or colleagues, come and hang out to drink a beer, play, create, discuss, or simply dream. A collective tree, decorated by us, takes centre stage at the heart of this village. During the Christmas period, let’s help make it more majestic and eclectic. Help to make it beautiful by bringing a personal decoration. On-site workshops on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., for parents and children.

Christmas paper chase
Let yourself be carried away by the game to discover the history and powerful symbols of the district. Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Advent calendar
No need for chocolate to break up the days until Christmas. The advent calendar for 1 to 24 December is scattered through the streets and squares and helps us to stay patient. It’s down to us to find each day..
