The imposing glass structure, built on the banks of the Ill, is also a truly unique work of art in its own right. The building is organised around a vast nave – an “inner street” that gives access to several spaces on the ground floor, including a large exhibition hall and the Graphic Arts and Photographic collections. p>

There are also four large rooms dedicated to exhibiting the permanent contemporary art collections, which include works by Braque, Monet, Signac and local artists Hans-Jean Arp and Gustave Doré (who has his very own room).

The museum’s collections

The museum’s collections include paintings, stained glass, sculptures and decorative arts from 1870 to the modern day, spanning all schools and movements such as impressionism, cubism and primitivism.

In addition to its permanent collections, the museum keeps a close watch on young design and creation, holding a rich, diverse programme of regular temporary exhibitions that showcase the latest artistic trends.
