Craftsmanship at the heart of Christmas
For a number of years, Strasbourg has been classed as a “Ville et Métiers d’Art” [Artistic cities and trades] city, as recognition for the preservation, promotion and development of the sometimes centuries-old know-how of associations of craftsmen and artistic trades.
Here is a selection of stalls, exhibitions and sales where you can discover artisan know-how.

Le Centre International d’Art Verrier [International Glass-Blowing Centre], place Benjamin Zix
Heir to the techniques of blowing glass Christmas baubles, in 1999, the Meisenthal International Glass-Blowing Centre launched a “Christmas baubles” editorial policy. Every year, traditional models are joined by contemporary baubles designed by creators invited to jazz up traditional styles.
La Tribu des gourmets [wine lovers’ association], patio of the Palais Rohan
This association works to re-establish the historical connections between Strasbourg and its vineyards, namely by producing a unique and authentic Alsatian mulled white wine.

The Alsatian Christmas Delicacies Market
Bakers from Strasbourg and the region, Couronne d’Or winegrowers, Alsatian foie gras producers, the Tribu des gourmets du vin d’Alsace [Alsace wine-lovers association], and the corporation of craft brewers, have the pleasure of inviting you to discover the traditional products of our region that make Christmas a success: bredle biscuits, foie gras, Alsatian wines, Alsatian mulled red or white wine and Alsatian beers.
A production workshop will be offered to children on Wednesday afternoons from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. (registration with the Fédération des boulangers [federation of bakers] at +33 (0)3 88 15 24 00 or by email email@example.com). On the programme: making and tasting bredle, plaits, mannele.

Come and discover the crafts of Alsace and Strasbourg!
The craft collectives, unique to Alsace-Moselle, present their know-how in an original and fun way in a dedicated stall in Place Broglie. Each week, you will have a chance to discover different, authentic, and local products and trades (brewers, woodwork, carpet weaving, etc.). In partnership with the Union of Craft Guilds for the Bas-Rhin region and the Alsace Chamber of Trades.
From 22 November to 24 December, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Place Broglie.
OZ, The Christmas of artistic trades
The Fédération des métiers d’art d’Alsace (fremaa) [Alsatian federation of crafts] showcases the talent and know-how of sixty craftsmen in a pop-up shop full of charm, where those on the hunt for unique items can find a wealth of original handmade gifts. Ceramicists to glassmakers, cabinetmakers to jewellery and fashion designers show off their contemporary and bold works thanks to their exceptional know-how and offer a great opportunity to take a shortcut to your Christmas shopping, with added quality and originality!
With its welcoming atmosphere and large choice of French, handmade items at affordable prices, the OZ trade show is without a doubt one of the best places to find the ideal gift, while maintaining your ethical values!

Come and meet Alsatian designers and craftsmen for this fourth edition of the MOCA Christmas market. Jewellery, fashion, decorations, as well as well-being are on the programme, with contributions from some twenty designers. Find a unique, handmade gift, or even customise it for yourself.

Before the ice freezes in stalactites at the end of your nose and the snowdrifts pile up against your door as you sleep, get your skates on and head to the Atelier du Bain aux Plantes! Tucked away in the Petite France district, this is the place of work and exhibition space for a dozen artists. Illustrations, paintings, and no doubt also a few smaller pieces you may be tempted to treat yourself to, there’s good reason to hang around, savouring and celebrating the pleasures of the senses.

Alsace-made concept store by GNOOSS
Once again, Caroline Boeglin and the GNOOSS team are organising a 100% Alsatian pop-up concept store for Christmas. More than twenty Alsatian designers are represented. A true showroom for local decoration, you can find gift and decoration ideas, taste coffee roasted in Strasbourg by the Omnino micro-roaster, and take part in creative workshops. An unmissable spot to experience a friendly, authentic and trendy Alsatian Christmas.
